24 hours in St. Louis

St. Louis is one of the many cities on our list to visit because of their baseball team. My husband, John, and I are making the rounds to every city with an MLB team. Lucky fr us, we were invited to a wedding in Effingham, Illinois which gave us the perfect excuse to fly into St. Louis. We flew in late on a Thursday to have a full day in St. Louis before the wedding festivities started on Saturday. Here are our top todo’s in St. Louis!

Food:

Soulard Coffee Garden & Cafe: A great cafe to fuel up for a long day of sight seeing. I opted for a bacon, eggs, and biscuit plate and John got the biscuits and gravy. They also had a great selection of coffee, breakfast pastries, and a shaded garden to enjoy it all on.

Charlie Gitto’s Downtown: A perfect spot for a snack before the game! We came specifically for the fried ravioli. Yum! If you’re lucky you may even get to meet Charlie himself, but warning, don’t sit in his chair!

St. Louis Fried Ravioli

Park Avenue Coffee: Stop in for some Gooey Butter Cake and coffee. Gooey Butter Cake is a must try for any sweets lover! Their’s was so good I forgot to stop and take a picture before diving in.

Activities:

Anheuser-Busch Brewery Tour: How can you go to St. Louis and not go to the Budweiser brewery?! We went on their standard tour. The tour took us around from start to finish in the beer making process, but of course the best part was the Clydesdales. Bonus: you get a free beer after the tour (21+ of course).

The Gateway Arch: Unfortunately the arch was closed for construction when we were in town, but it was still a site to see. It was so much bigger in person than I had imagined.

St. Louis Cardinals game: The Cardinals are truly the reason we went to St. Louis, and Busch stadium is one of the stadiums John was the most excited about. This stadium didn’t disappoint and to make it even better, we were able to snag tickets to a rivalry game against the cubs. Head up to the Budweiser Terrace before first pitch for $5 Busch happy hour!
